The IELTS language test is recognized in around 130 countries worldwide. It is offered in two versions and determines English language skills. The IELTS tests are administered by the University of Cambridge, the British Council and IDP Education Australia. As a result, many universities in Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the USA accept the IELTS test results as an admission requirement.
Level of the IELTS English Test
The results of the IELTS tests correspond to the following classification according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
- B1 (advanced language usage) – Result range 4.0-5.0
- B2 (independent language use) – Result range 5.0-6.5
- C1 (expert language skills) – Result range 7.0-8.0
- C2 (almost native speaker) – Result range 8.0-9.0
Target groups of the IELTS English Test
IELTS is an English language exam of the University of Cambridge as part of its Cambridge Certificates, which is recognized worldwide and offered in the following versions

Registration for the IELTS English Test

The IELTS Exam
The IELTS tests for the listening, writing and reading sections take place on one exam day, while the oral exam is usually not held on the same day but up to a week before or after the main test. The IELTS tests cover the following areas

With the exception of the oral exam, the IELTS test is only conducted in paper form. The duration of the examination is approximately 3 hours:
- 60 minutes: Reading comprehension,
- 40 minutes: listening comprehension,
- 60 minutes: written expression,
- 11-14 minutes: Talk.
The IELTS test results are valid for two years.
