The Cambridge Certificate: Preliminary and Preliminary for Schools, also known as Preliminary English Test (PET) and Preliminary English Test (PET) for Schools, respectively, are designed for learning English in order to be able to use English skills in everyday life (study, work, travel). Preliminary and Preliminary for Schools are regarded as the second level for general English examinations within the Cambridge certificates.
Level of PET
Preliminary and Preliminary for Schools correspond to level B1 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Zielgruppe vom PET
Preliminary or Preliminary for Schools is a prerequisite for naturalization in the United Kingdom. The exam preparation aims to improve the English language skills. At the end of the preparation course, participants will understand relevant information and will be able to identify moods, attitudes and opinions through spoken and written English.
The Preliminary for Schools version is specially designed with the experiences and interests of students in mind and is intended to motivate students not only to learn English but also to take further examinations.
The advantages of PET
By attending a preparation course, you can acquire language skills that are close to everyday life. Both qualifications, which correspond to the intermediate level, prove that you are able to communicate in English with native speakers in everyday situations.
As a reliable benchmark for English language skills, the different language variants (e.g. American English, British English) are also included. Because the preparation course is designed to accommodate participants of different nationalities and language backgrounds, it is recognized by thousands of employers, universities and governments worldwide. The exam certificates are valid for life.
The learning goals of PET
