The GMAT language test, also known as the Graduate Management Admission Test, is used to test prospective students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in business administration with a master’s degree abroad or in Germany. The GMAT language test is taken at U.S. colleges and British universities, for example. Some German universities are also starting to require the GMAT. It is used to determine the language and mathematical level of the participants in the form of a score. Only English is spoken.

Levels of the GMAT

The level of the test is extremely demanding. All exam questions are internationally standardized. A complicated procedure is used to determine the final result or GMAT score. The total number of test questions answered, the number of correct answers and the difficulty level are decisive. The maximum score is 800 points. Separate scores are used for individual test sections.

Target groups of the GMAT

The GMAT English test is designed for students who wish to pursue further studies in business (Master’s degree). The GMAT Test English is also useful for obtaining a scholarship to a US university.

Advantages of the GMAT

A computer program makes a targeted dynamic selection of questions according to different levels of difficulty and content. The GMTA test is therefore need-based and unique. A further advantage of the test is its acceptance even at US elite universities.

Goals of the GMAT

The objectives include individual tests of linguistic aptitude and mathematical-logical content. This allows conclusions to be drawn about the personal capabilities of the participants.

GMAT Examinations

The test contents and the test procedure are as follows: The students sit in a room with computers and ceiling cameras. They are screened from each other by partitions.

The complete test takes about 3 hours 30 minutes. The assessment section and Integrated Reasoning take 30 minutes. 75 minutes are planned for the Verbal and Quantitative sections.

A fixed time period is available for the four parts of the test. For the Analytical Writing Assessment this means a time window of 30 minutes. Depending on the performance level, the questions are individually selected by the software. In principle, each question must be followed by an answer.

If the quality of the answer changes, the level of difficulty of the next question is adjusted computer-aided. The goal is to determine the personal performance as accurately as possible.
